MOVIE REVIEW

Good Will Hunting

In Good Will Hunting, Matt plays Will Hunting, a maths genius who has never been to college and works as a janitor at MIT. He prefers to hang out with his buddies, played by Ben Affleck, Casey Affleck and Cole Hauser. While sweeping the halls, Will solves a problem put up on the blackboard of the hallway, and his talent is discovered by a Professor Lambeau (Stellan Skarsgard).

Will is also defensive, angry, ready to self-destruct and has "a chip on his shoulder about the abuse he suffered as a poor foster kid from South Boston". When Will got into a fight, he was bailed out by the professor, by promising the courts that Will will attend therapy and tutoring sessions. After going through several therapists, Will eventually met his match with a college-turned-therapist, Sean McGuire (Robin Williams). Will has never been in loving relationship, but when he meets with a Harvard medical student, Skylar (Minnie Driver), he has to let his guard down, or stand the chance of losing her.

What's so dazzling about the movie is all the interplay relationships between the characters in the movie - the friendship between Will and Chuckie, the passion between Will and Skylar, the clash of angry minds between Will and Sean, Sean and Lambeau, and the eventual friendship and respect that developed between Will and Sean. Director : Gus Van Sant ; Producer : Lawrence Bender
